Anniversary exhibition

In the spring of the 2026 anniversary year, the hall of Kórnik Castle was transformed into something almost unrecognizable – it became the setting for a unique exhibition design. To create it, we used no less than 600 meters of white non-woven interfacing, which covered the paintings and furniture located there, illuminating the area. We chose a light and airy material that does not overload the objects yet allows air to circulate; it provides protection while remaining light, transparent and delicate as paper – and, like paper, it can be imprinted.
The temporal covering of the historical objects was intended to draw attention to the tension between accessibility and preservation. Collections – especially library collections – that are normally hidden away are only brought out at the request of readers, while any transport of these objects requires precise packaging. The exhibition textile symbolically highlights the careful work of librarians. Curators, conservators, and exhibition attendants constantly take care of books, manuscripts, and museum artifacts, but also of readers and tourists, so that objects and people can regularly encounter each other.
The interfacing covers something, but it also reveals – it has been printed on, becoming a medium of information in its own right. It has also filled the showcase cabinets containing original manuscripts and prints – within its light embrace, the greatest treasures of our collection look exceptionally beautiful.
