Dear Readers,
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Director of Kórnik Library has issued a regulation in order to align the rules of visiting the Castle with the national guidelines.
Below you will find the rules of using the collections of Kórnik Library during the pandemic:
1. The reading-rooms in Działyński Mansion and Kórnik Castle will be made available only to individuals equipped with face masks covering the mouth and the nose, in accordance with par. 18 of the Ordinance of the Council of Ministers of 19 April, as amended. Should the readers take off or slide down the mask on the premises, they will be immediately ordered to leave the reading-room.
2. The readers undertake to disinfect their hands or gloves with a liquid placed at the entrance.
3. The readers undertake to follow the instructions of the Library’s employees.
4. Due to the limited number of persons who are allowed to stay on the premises, it has been agreed that the reading-room in Kórnik Castle can accommodate 2 readers at the same time and the reading-room in Działyński Mansion – 6 readers. A distance of minimum 1.5 m should be kept between the work stations.
5. Due to the limited number of reading seats in both reading-rooms, each visit requires reservation.
6. The readers who want to use the reading-room in Kórnik Castle and Działyński Mansion, are requested to use the system of booking readers’ visits.
7. Books can be borrowed and returned to the reading-room in Kórnik Castle only on Mondays.
8. The readers who would like to study special collections and new printed matter are requested to contact Access to the Collections and Scientific Information department (czytelnia@bk.pan.pl, +48 531 980 186) in order to verify possible digitalisation of the collections or electronic access to scanned materials. Due to the diversity of the collections in Kórnik Library, every request will be considered individually, in accordance with the Library’s capacity.

12. Outerwear will not be accepted in the cloakrooms until further notice.

The reading-room in Kórnik Castle is located on the first floor. The catalogue is in a separate room, opposite the entrance to the reading-room.
The reading-room provides access to:
reference library
Holds 465 works in 1,120 volumes.
The library has encyclopaedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, armorials, catalogues of manuscripts, old prints and microfilms of material from our library and other establishments. There is also a collection of manuals and monographs on literary criticism and linguistics.
In the reference library, the librarian on duty provides access to the resources; there is no need to complete call slips.

These are predominantly prints from the 19th and 20th centuries and journals.
Bookmarks are completed electronically after logging in to the reader’s electronic account available in a bookmark in electronic catalogues.
Orders for stored collections are processed every hour, from 9:00 a.m. to 02:00 p.m., inclusive. The call slips submitted after 2:00 p.m. will be processed on the following day.
The books to be borrowed are ordered and collected in the reading-room.

special collections
These collections include manuscripts, old prints, maps, hand-written newspapers, diplomas, graphics, photographs, plans, postcards and other very valuable artefacts. Rules of access to these collections is provided in the regulations of access to special collections.
In order to study them, a two-part bookmark is completed by providing the catalogue reference numbers. The orders are processed like for all the other works in store.

It is possible to make use of an interlending system in order to bring works from other libraries and gain access to them in the reading-room.

The reading-room of the Poznań branch is located on the first floor of Działyński Mansion, in the historical White Room.
The paper catalogue is in the reading-room.
The reading-room provides access to:
the reference book collection
It contains 1,245 works in 4,394 volumes.
The collection consists of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, bibliographies, armorials, catalogues of manuscripts, old prints and microfilms of material from our library and other establishments. It also holds manuals, monographs and journals on history and literature, and a large collection of source materials.
new works in storage in Kórnik
These are mainly prints from the 19th and 20th centuries and journals, stored in Kórnik Library.
The bookmarks are completed electronically after logging in to the reader’s electronic account available in a bookmark in electronic catalogues.
Items ordered from storage are brought from Kórnik three times a week, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, at approximately 9:00 a.m.
The orders should be placed by 2:00 p.m. at the latest on Mondays, and by 08:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Up to 10 works (15 volumes) can be ordered on a single occasion.
The ordered books will wait for the reader for a month.

The reading-room is equipped with microfilm readers.
Since the reading-room in Poznań does not provide access to the special collections, there is only a possibility of ordering the related microfilms or CDs with the reproductions.
The microfilms are ordered like the works in storage.
